Dead On The Vine is a great watch if you are seeking something that will keep you on the edge of your seat without being overly disturbing and gory. If you're into mystery/crime dramas and thriller films, this one is your gig. It certainly kept me guessing throughout.
I must admit that on first introduction to the characters, I got them all wrong! The range of characters within this film is incredibly diverse, which made it all the more enjoyable to watch. Dead On The Vine also featured a great level of character development for a shorter film.

The plot didn’t turn out in any way I expected it to, which can only be a good thing, as it kept me completely hooked throughout! The film also began with minimal dialogue, instantly posing an intriguing and mysterious atmosphere. Dead On The Vine certainly isn’t predictable, with plot twists coming in at every opportunity. There are plenty of tense moments throughout the film, with little time for the audience to take a breather in between.
I also thought that the soundtrack was also a great touch; it was well composed and felt almost historic or medieval, which admittedly didn’t correlate with the storyline (being set in the present day), yet it almost gave you a sense of relation to the countryside setting and the potential history of where the film was based.
I did have a fair few questions at the end of the film. It left me to my own devices, allowing me to conclude the storyline with my own imagination. Perhaps this means there will be a sequel to the film? Who knows. However, it’s certainly one that makes the cogs whir.
If you’re interested in watching Dead On The Vine, it will be screened at various UK locations, including Easdale Island Arts Festival on the 1st August, Highland Cinema, Fort William on 27th and 28th September, and at Edge Hill Art Centre in Liverpool on October 16th.
The film was also recently released on DVD in the US and Canada, and will hopefully be available on streaming services after summer, so keep your eyes peeled!
