Cult Classic Horror Films Available On Netflix UK This Halloween

October has finally arrived. There’s a sweet chill in the air, the leaves are turning crisp and golden, and pumpkin spice lattes are out to play… So, what better way to kick of the season with a spooky film night?

To celebrate the best time of year, Netflix UK has listed a variety of cult classic horror flicks to adorn our screens and keep us entertained throughout the month. Whether you’re into intense gore or like to keep it light and family-friendly, there’s something for everyone. Check out our list of top horror cult classics that are a must-watch this October below.

Saw

Saw is back for Halloween and is loved by horror fans across the globe. With a great plot twist, a whole lot of gore and a mystery to solve, this film really has it all. Featuring stars including Danny Glover, Shawnee Smith and Cary Elwes, who starred in the later series of Stranger Things, film fanatics and horror enthusiasts alike will not be disappointed with this gruesome Halloween flick.

John Carpenter’s Halloween

Who better to kick start the Halloween season off with than Michael Myers himself? The first John Carpenter Halloween film is back on Netflix, plus multiple other films from the franchise, perfect for binge-watching on a spooky Saturday evening.

Beetlejuice

Of course, following the launch of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the original Beetlejuice film has returned to Netflix, so you can get even more of a Michael Keaton fix, or Winona Ryder, if she’s more your cup of tea…

Shaun Of The Dead

Shaun Of The Dead is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, so of course, this fantastic British horror comedy is once again available for streaming on Netflix UK. If you’ve not seen it, first of all, where have you been? It's worth keeping in mind that, even if horror comedies aren’t usually your thing, this one is definitely a must-see this October. With more gore, zombies and Cornetto ice creams than anyone ever asked for in a horror comedy, it’s certain to put a smile on your face.

Ghostbusters

For me personally, Ghostbusters is an absolute classic. I remember watching this every Halloween as a kid and being scared out of my wits. Nowadays, I look back on Bill Murray’s friendly face with fond memories. Whilst not particularly scary, unless you’re younger than six, it’s a great nostalgia trip and perfect for Halloween costume inspiration!

Final Destination

Honestly, I’ve lost track of the amount of FD films that exist these days. However, for me, the first one will always be the most memorable. Weirdly, the first time I watched this film was with my mum. All I can say is it gave us a good laugh, although I’m not sure that’s what it’s intended to do… I’d be interested in knowing your thoughts on the Final Destinations films in the comments!

Fatal Attraction

Whilst this film is more of a thriller than a horror film, it gave me a bloody good fright the first time I watched it, although rest assured there are no spoilers here. This entire movie is fantastic, and so creepy. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire two hours of play.

Blood Bath At The House Of Death

This is a bizarre film if I have ever seen one. I was almost confused the first time I saw it, however, upon second viewing, I think it’s exceptionally clever, witty, and downright odd. Has it aged well? I’m not really sure. However, for fans of old or spoofy horror films, Blood Bath At The House Of Death is certainly worth a watch. In my opinion, it was incredibly ahead of its time for a horror comedy, and I like to think it inspired some prolific films in the genre today, like Scary Movie, although admittedly I haven’t researched this theory. If that hasn’t swayed you, then how about a feature from the one and only Vincent Price?
